Adding a picture is also pretty easy!
If you want to add a picture, you need to click on the image button below the story writing area. Click on your grade, click on your teacher and click on your folder, which will open up and show you the pictures that you have already uploaded. You can select a previously uploaded picture by clicking on it and clicking on the insert button. To add picture that is located on your hard disk is easy as well. Please follow these steps every time you upload a picture. First, you need to navigate to your own folder. Any picture left anywhere else will be cleaned up. Then make sure that your picture is a JPG file and that it has a unique name that does not contain spaces – the computer that runs the web site does not like spaces – so use_(underscore)_like_this. The size of the picture is also important, and the ideal size is about 400 pixels by 400 pixels, but in no case should the picture be larger than 600 pixels wide or over 150K in size or it will not upload. These conditions might be confusing to understand at first but its not that difficult and that way the pictures will be the right size for the web page. You can see thee error code generated if your picture is too big or the wrong file format in the picture to the right.
To upload a picture, scroll to the bottom and click on the Browse Files button. A dialogue will open asking you to locate the picture on your hard disk. Select the picture(s) and you will see the name below the Browse Files button. Click on the Start Upload button and you should see "picture uploaded successfully" Click on the picture and click on the insert button to place the picture in the story. You will see the picture if you have the text editor or you will see the following code that is the HTML tag to show the picture once the story is published: < img src="/picture.gif" > .
Determining where the Article or Story Appears
You will be asked to fill out the Section and Category whenever you save an article or story, and these determine where it appears. First select the Section, like a grade and teacher combination, which will populate the Category with all of the children in the class. Select your child and the article appears as the latest article under your child's menu. If you chose parent for Section and Forum for Category, the article is accessible from the Forum submenu under the Parents menu. Note that publishing in the forum requires that you provide Keywords by which the article can be found, as Forum is organized by searches on Keywords. The Keywords are listen on the Forum Page.
Publishing your Story
Once you are finished authoring the story, you have to click on the Save button. Make sure that you do this before your time is up, or better yet, make sure that you have a backup copy that you can paste in rather than compose it in the editor window, that way it does not take very long to create the story at all.
Keep in Mind that you have 60 minutes to save the story.
You have 60 minutes after entering the Submit Article to save the article. If you take longer than that, you will be automatically logged out, and when you click save, the contents of your story might disappear as you are no longer logged in. This is a safety feature so that your account is not accidently left open for others.
