Josefina
Rodriguez was born in the Dominican Republic in a small rural town. She migrated
to New York with her family when she was three years old. She returned to her native country
as a young adult. Her itinerary included a stop at the mountains of the north. She found
herself in a state of culture shock. She did not know how to survive without modern technology
and indoor plumbing. After that, she vowed to return every summer and enjoy nature at
its best. She loves to visit her country’s white sandy beaches and swimming in the
turquoise ocean. She has a country house in the city of Santiago.
This is Josefina’s fourth year at The Earth School. She is a kindergarten teacher
who loves to paint and play with blocks. Her favorite subjects are science and literacy.
She is a graduate of Hunter College where she received a Master of Science in Early Childhood
Education. She lives with her family in The Lower East Side.
