Carmen Nieves is the Supervising School Aide
at the Earth School. She was born in Puerto Rico, came to New York City at eight months
old and was raised in the Lower East Side. She is a mother of three children, two boys
and one girl. Carmen has been working for the New York City Board of Education since 1996
and started working at the Earth School in 1997. She performs clerical duties in the office,
including pupil accounting and attendance. She also works the after-school program and
provides childcare for P. T. A. and S. L. T. meetings. Carmen loves to swim, drive, go
shopping, dance and participate in martial arts activities. In her free time, she also
enjoys reading and spending time with her children. Carmen loves her job because she loves
spending time with children. She is a hard worker who is young at heart and soul.
