Cara brings to the classroom a deep love of reading, creative writing,
outdoor activity, and exploring the world, which was fostered by her
educational experiences. Her elementary school in Boston was very
similar in style to the Earth School. At Boston Latin School, from
which she graduated in 1999, Cara experienced a model of rigorous
classical education. She found the best of both at Haverford College
in Philadelphia, where she majored in History with a focus on
literature and philosophy. After graduating in 2003, she took a break
from academia to ski in Maine, where she discovered a new passion
through her job at a pre-school: teaching. She left the northern woods
to enter Teachers College at Columbia and completed a Masters Degree
in Education, while also substituting frequently at local elementary
schools. Convinced that the progressive style of education best
fosters a love of learning, community and critical thinking, she is
delighted to be a staff member at the Earth School.
