Alison Iryami

I grew up on Long Island and went to Oswego State University for my undergraduate degree in teaching. Prior to coming to the Earth School, most of my teaching took place in a private school in Brooklyn. While teaching 6th grade I earned my Master's Degree in Administration at Bank Street College. During a tour of the best public progressive schools in NYC, I found the Earth School. The following year I came to work here as a 5/6 teacher.

I've been living in Brooklyn for the past 5 years. Aside from teaching my other passion is practicing Karate. Recently, I earned "Shodan" which means first degree black belt. It was a very big accomplishment for me. I hope to incorporate Martial Arts in the phys.ed. program at the Earth School.
