Dear Prospective Families,
The Earth school is a New York District 1 Public elementary school. It is an alternative "progressive" school which requires an application. It is not the default elementary school for it's geographic area in other words, we are not a zoned school.
District 1 is a District of Choice meaning families living in District 1 can choose from a variety of schools in their district. To find out your district or for further assistance please contact the Manhattan Borough Enrollment Office at 212-356-3788, you can also log on to www.schools.nyc.gov. Kindergarten is available for children who were born in 2004. Your child must turn five years old between January 1st and December 31st of 2009 to be eligible for fall admission. If you are interested in applying to the Earth School for Kindergarten we recommend you attend an Earth School tour. Applications for Kindergarten are due Monday, March 2, 2009 at 333 7th Ave. 12th floor - Please be sure you have visited all schools of interest because you will have to rank your top 3 elementary schools when you fill out the Kindergarten application. Pre-K is available for children born in 2005. Your child must turn four years old between January 1st and December 31st of 2009 to be eligible for fall admission. If you are interested in applying to the Earth School for Pre-Kindergarten we recommend you attend an Earth School tour. Pre-K applications will become available in March 2009. For families interested in grades 1st through 5th grade. No official application is available. Call Jocelyn for further information. Call our Parent Coordinator to make an appointment. Please leave me a clear message with your name, phone number and the grade you are interested in applying for this fall. I will get back to you as soon as I can.
