It does not yet look like much, because it is not yet filled with content -- but you can do something about that. That’s right, you can contribute. The first step is to request a user name and password, and you can then see that there is a menu for each grade and class that is hidden from the public. Each class can take advantage of the web site to develop their own section of the web site. Possible uses are communication between parents and teachers (together we can cut down on paper used for communication, and save trees), project blogs, student blogs, etc. See, for example, a project blog. or a student blog. The administration and the Earth School Parent Association can use the web site to communicate with the Earth School community, and since we can provide feedback, our voices can be heard, or at least, posted on the web site.
It is a web site construction set, and it can grow to meet our needs and usage patterns, and it will be managed by volunteers in each class that will be responsible for developing that section. There needs to be at least one volunteer from each class who has learned to manage the web site back-end before everyone in the class can become authors, as a class will not be developed until it has a web administrator, we are looking for a few good volunteers. Click here and Email Onno de Jong to volunteer!.
We hope that this will contribute to the Earth School community, and hope to read your contributions soon.
