Welcome everyone. . . what a great start we are off to this year. I have been walking around and seeing so many happy faces engaged in their classwork and kids walking down the halls looking sooooo proud of themselves to be here at THEIR SCHOOL. I have seen beautiful self-portraits on the walls, smelled delicious apple cobblers in the air and have heard happy sounds of laughter and the quiet of students focusing on their studies. Our teachers and staff and principal are sooooo cool soooo together and so dedicated, Thank you.
We the parents of the Earth school are truly fabulous too. For those of us who are new this year. we raised money in the past year for air conditioning , school trips, music program for the younger grades , dance program for the upper grades and money for the teachers to use in their classrooms .
At the Earth School there are soooo many parents that are involved. In my experience it hasn’t been just a few people doing the work but many parents. Sarah, Deirdra, Corinna, Maggie, Laura, Laura, Tanya, Eva, Ana and Assami. They have been at this school for years and have built a strong foundation that is continually growing. I don’t mean to leave people out, please shout out the name if you like.
I was 42 when I had my son . . . I have been spending a lot of years finding myself and being on the go on this big city what I mean by this is that I didn’t spend any time understanding the public school system here in NY. We have such an amazing school here. We are one of the few schools where parents are allowed to enter the school and be with their kids in the morning and afternoon. At this point I can’t imagine it being any other way. We get to be a part of our kids life and I know that makes my kid feel great.
Creating community is the most important thing to me.
We have a fall fair coming up on October 25th. It is really a fun event with amazing food and crafts and rummage sale. One of our parents makes an truly yummy pasta dish with mushroom that she brings back from italy every year. This evening see if you can sign up to volunteer to work at the fall fair for a few hours. The day will be divided up into shifts.
